Oxygen thief

This company are exploiters, self center, Their behavior would be called 'self-serving.

I booked them 2 weeks ahead and request a move include packing and load, unloading at new residence, I was told boxes and tapes is provided .

Here’s what happened they showed up no boxes, no tape and had to go to home hardware to buy materials I observed the driver packing pictures frame one agains another stack up in the box with no padding or materials between when I mentioned to him his reply when it’s tight nothing move, the were supposed to start at 9 am they didn’t start till 10:00 the driver was always on his phone and telling the other guy what to do I had 80 percent of my items packed it took them 4 hours to load and they packed 3 boxes when came time to unload the driver stayed in the truck majority of the time and talking to bystander and also the talking to the ambulance people totally lazy, it took them 3 hours to unload he was just milking me taking every pennies he could get.

When bill came and mentioned that he was late he mentioned that is written in the contract that they’re not responsible if late due to traffic he wouldn’t let me talk and kept arguing with me totally disrespectful. The next day I got called by the cleaning crew to let me know that a cupboard was left with many of my items.people need to know about them.

I was charge $47.83 for 5 boxes, paper, and tapes, they used 3 boxes and hardly used any packing paper, they used all my tape that I had.

Pictures include lamps damages packing paper remaining almost full.

I was bill 7 hours plus boxes and tape UNBELIEVABLE and if I didn’t pay they were going to keep my furniture remaining in the truck.

They will use any excuse you can think of bunch of oxygen thief.

They need to lose their license in order to stop stealing from customers.

Your truly.

Ottawa 1 mover barely spoke English. The other spoke none.

Absolutely abhorrent! Deliberately destroyed everything because I would not pay what the 2 movers charged above my contract quote.

In Canada, you must pass grade 5 English to get a work permit. When I commented on something (like smoking inside the truck with my belongings) the one guy said. "no understand".

The accountant sided with the movers and they refused to deliver my goods until she found out I had a contract (Megan).

The guy told me they (2guys) could not get the sofa thru my door. I, a 5'3" woman, did it myself.

The movers yelled at me in their language, stood over me as they yelled and intimidated me. I went to get them coffee, despite this, and they threw/unpacked the truck in the few minutes it took me. I could not get in the house or on the porch and bins and boxes were shattered. It was pouring rain and over 1/2 my stuff was outside.

No exaggerations, no vile language except by movers.

We can guarantee that our employees would not deliberately destroy everything because a client did not pay. I'm sorry to say but this review is a big exaggeration. In Canada you do not have to pass grade 5 english in order to get a work permit, just because someone does not speak proper english does not mean that they cannot get a job.

Great Experience

From the quotes that I got, it was clear that O Canada Movers had offered me the best deal. So, I booked the move with them. They did deliver the best possible service during packing, loading, moving, and unloading. We did not even lift a finger. They knew exactly how to get the job done. It was a delightful experience moving with O Canada Movers. Will highly recommend using them for everyone!

Scammers and extortionists

They ripped me off bigtime. The final price was 10 times the quoted amount. They only tell the final price after its loaded and your property is held hostage. They don't protect any property with moving blankets. They don't even use straps to move appliances, just dollies that smash holes into walls and scratch the appliances. They don't apologize for anything. Customer service doesn't return calls. Avoid this company at all costs.

We at O Canada Movers use government scales to weigh every clients items. It usually comes as a surprise to our customers when the weight is more than they think it was originally because of what the client thinks the items usually weigh.

Move from Welland ON to Gatineau QC

Wow. Where do I begin. This was my 1st experience with a long distance moving Co and I can tell you that I will NEVER again use their services. The quote I was originally given was way off. I sent pictures of my big pieces and was given an approximate cost of 2700.00 which was more then initially quoted so I emailed them and was told they always exaggerate the quote so not to worry. They quoted me 11500 pounds based on pictures I sent of my big pieces. I thought ok so I budgeted 3000.00 thinking for sure that I had put enough aside for the move. The movers were late but no big deal. They were nice and since one of them had been with the company over 8 years I asked him how many pounds he figured I had. He said he couldn’t tell me until everything was in the truck. That should have been my first clue. Many hours later, he gave me a paper saying I had 18000 pounds and NO he did not have anything to weigh it he said that was based on his professional experience. My stuff is all in the truck so what can i do at this point so I called U-Haul and they did not have any trucks available or I would have gotten the movers to unload my stuff and I would’ve used a U-Haul truck instead. So my hands were tied at this point as my house was sold and my stuff had to be out and I was starting a new job the Monday. So my end bill ended up costing 6375.00. This is outrageous and they did not weigh anything. There was no way I had that much in there. Now you think that’s it? No, of course not. There was a mix up in my delivery date but no big deal. They showed up on the Saturday after 6pm and OMG what a nightmare. They damaged my stairs, the wanted to dump everything I. My living room because I was their 5th house that day and they were tired. I said hum no. You are suppose to bring things where I want them. So they started to unload the truck which they parked right on the grass without asking and of course damaged my front lawn. Then they dropped a big plastic bin which opened and scattered all over the place and the guy started laughing and said awe nothing broke. Of course he didn’t look at my stairs which they damaged. Then they started to bring all my outdoor stuff in so I said hey wait, that goes outside in the shed only to be told nope, everything comes in here. Are you kidding me?? Are you serious?? They unloaded my snowblower INTO MY LIVING-ROOM. Who the hell does that? By then I was ready to cry I was so disgusted with the whole experience. I told them to bring the snowblower outside so they took it from the truck inside my house, through the dining room and into the back porch. Oh there is more but I won’t continue because it is making my blood boil thinking about it. They forced the legs off my ultramatic bed and now 2 of them can’t be screwed in anymore so my bed cannot be used, they damaged my stairs, they broke one of my kitchen stool and many of the items in the boxes were broken. In conclusion I am trying to put a claim through for the damages they caused to my bed, the stool and my stairs but guess what? Their voicemail is always full and nobody answers the phone. What a shock. Professional movers?? More like a Mickey Mouse Co. A very disgusted and unhappy customer.

This company is not reliable. Reserved a truck, company says they tried to contact me for pickup appointment, said they couldn't get a hold of me , so they cancelled my pickup and kept my deposit. I sent emails, with no response. Very unprofessional. Not reliable. Not recommended. I think this company is just trying to make easy money. Scammers. Be careful.

Over $750 extra charges - AVOID!

Got a price per pound for a move to New Brunswick.

They gave me an estimate less than $1000. I ended up paying over $1700. The moving service itself was so so. They used few blankets because I almost beg them to use it. No plastic for my new mattress (they cover it in filthy pads). I asked to talk with a manager to make a complain. Driver told me that he is the owner. Too late to do something about my price. I should have looked better on their site. They don't even have a social address or a warehouse. Operating like a ghost. Thanks god nothing was missing! However, I've been scammed by "O Canada movers".

We at O Canada Movers try our best to make sure our clients have a stress-free or trouble free move however an estimate is just an estimate it does not indicate the final total until after the items are weighed properly at a government scale

Long-distance move from Dorval, QC to Thornhill, ON

Paid a lot of money and got a lot of damaged goods

After giving a highly detailed description of my belongings our initial quote doubled in price. The movers did not give us an estimate before loading our belongings (even though we asked), the mover that spent the most time with us did not speak a word of English. The other mover who did speak English spent the bulk of the time outside. During my initial phone calls with O Canada Movers I specifically asked if there were any other fees I could expect to pay, and I was clearly told no, that I was informed of all possible fees. This turned out to be a lie. I ended up paying an additional $550 in fees I was not informed of. My damages included a broken dresser (chunk of wood missing from a corner), broken mirror, broken picture frame, several deep scratches on a wood shelf, broken curtain rod, among others. I submitted the damages claim form and have not received a response. I would not recommend O Canada Movers to anyone, they are liars and did a horrible job.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2500

Official company response

We at O Canada provide an inventory sheet for all our clients to hand back to us so we can give an estimate however, the estimates are not the actual weights as different items have different weights and we cannot be 100 percent completely sure on it which is why we use government scales to weigh the items.

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!! They held our stuff hostage after quoting us $1300 and then tried to bill us for $4K after our items were on the truck. Wouldn't deliver them until we paid. They held our stuff for 6 hours after NEVER telling us they don't accept credit cards on the weekend! Trying to arrange a large e-transfer on a Sunday evening is NOT the easiest thing to do! DO NOT CHOOSE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!

Our company offers packing and wrapping services to our clients if this services is requested prior to the day of the move, as well we will disassemble and reassemble furniture, again this is a service the client needs to make our office aware of prior to the day of the move. My bill has an extra 500 dollar on it. This is criminal.

My driver was an hour late.. I almost missed my 700km train ride to my new home. I was given a quote by the head office for $362 dollars plus 25 cent per pound over 1000lbs

They charged me 25 cents per pound after 500lbs, and they added a 500 dollar charge that was never spoken of or added to my original quote.

It's criminal. I'm afraid they will hold my stuff even though I've already paid a $200 deposit, and they have my credit information.

I dealt with the head office, and now my friend whom is only to be receiving my stuff is being harassed about billing info by what appears to be a truck driver.

I feel cheated, and as though this is a scam. If the head office messed up the quote then they are responsible for the mistake. Don't magically drop 500 dollar charges out of the sky.

They are disorganized, and rude.

The original woman I dealt with was named Amanda, and she was totally professional. Everything since has been a complete disaster. And as someone who is trying to move from Barrie to Ottawa Ontario.. I'm actually scared now. This company has made me feel threatened during what is already a difficult time. Moving isn't fun, but dealing with this company will make your moving day a disaster.

Don't do it

Horrible Horrible Horrible ,

Movers showed up half hour early(the only good part of the move) but then sat in their truck iny driveway for 30i minutes.

I was quoted at $600 and once my furniture was on the truck I was told my move would cost $2400 and unless my balance was paid in full they would not deliver it to my new address...I am livid.. do not use this company.

I should have read the reviews , because i see im not the only one

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2400

Official company response

At O Canada Movers the quoted amount is based on the estimated weight the client provides at the time of booking. There are times when customers may be over the estimated weight and adjustment would have to be made to the cost of the move. As our company believes in transparencies, information regarding payment is clearly listed in the customers booking confirmation email they receive.

Never showed up and stole my deposit

I hired them to move me in November 12th 2021. They won’t tell you when they’re arriving until the day before (they have until 5:00 to inform you)! They cancelled, truck broke down. They were unconcerned with the situation. Told me to go get my deposit back ….the day before my move! We argued back and forth and they agreed to move me the next day after I worked all day. They were to show up at 5:30pm. They didn’t call me until 7:45pm! Not a text, phone call, nothing. And who knows where they were, how far away they still were, when they called. They left me stranded. And then REFUSED to refund my deposit. They are a fraudulent organization that doesn’t give a crap about you. And they won’t show up and then they will STEAL your money. They are the worst - wish I could have rated they a big FAT ZERO.

Our company always calls our customers the day before the schedule move to inform them of the time or drivers will be there. With everything in life there are unforeseen events that may happen, which was the case with a truck going down in our fleet. Our company made arrangements to deliver immediately the next day. The client had to work which prevent our company from booking the morning appointment slot we set aside for her. When the customer receives her booking confirmation all the information regarding the deposit. Our customer has not stolen anything from the customer. The customer cancelled the move.

Worst experience!!! Don't hire them!!!!!

This company was booked to move my retired MIL this past sat. They were booked for 9am. She got a call that a truck broke down and they would come between 2-4. They showed up after 5pm looked at her stuff and said she had too many things. If wanted them to move her stuff it would cost $2000! She had a bed, 2 dressers and like 20 totes. So they left. Leaving her with no option and not being able to leave her rental. Also they have yet to return her $200 deposit or return any of the calls to them. Now she can't afford to hire movers.

At O Canada Movers we believe in being transparent with our customer, their are times when customers my under estimate their belongings. Our movers will let the customers know they have more than the quoted amount, to allow the customer to make the decision to either go ahead with the move or to cancel the move. If the client choose to cancel the move the movers continue on with their daily schedule.

Whatever 5 star reviews that are on here are fake , listen to all the poor ones. This company is a straight up scam. They will quote you a good price that’s supposed to be all in but it’ll end up being double. Broken contract: property held ransom until over double was paid

This is a warning to steer clear of O Canada Movers as they are not a trustworthy company – do not trust O Canada Movers. I am diligent with quotes, accurate information, and respectful communication – so I don’t say this lightly, but you need to know that O Canada Movers play an unethical game.

Despite multiple emails assuring me that other negative reviews were spam and clear confirmation that I would only be charged what was quoted in the email – I was charged over double as a ransom.

On September 28, I was quoted $400 in total for my 500lb move – and was assured this would be the total “all in” cost. I also sent the online listing of the 2 appliances and received a response that I would be charged as promised.

I paid the $200 deposit with multiple email confirmations that the total would be $400.

On delivery day, I was asked for an additional $859.65 (for a total of $1059.65) for a 1000lb move minimum. I talked to customer service and they informed me that management did not care about the email confirmations and that my property would not be delivered – AND that I was still being charged additional costing during the time I was advocating for what I was promised.

Customer service finally got management to agree to honour the 500lb minimum, but not the $400 total I was promised – so they charged an additional $786.20 ransom, making the total $986.20 or over double what I had been quoted/promised and what was confirmed over multiple emails.

I submitted a claim form (as requested by customer service) to have my file reviewed. This was submitted on October 8, 2021 with a request for response by October 15, 2021. It is now over a month later (November 14, 2021) and, despite multiple reminder emails and calls for an update on the review, O Canada Movers have not responded – a clear indication that they do not care about their customers or their promises.

- Neil

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $986

Long-distance move from Ottawa, ON to Halifax, NS

AWFUL SERVICES, HUGE SCAM, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I recently booked O Canada Movers for my move from Ottawa, ON to Halifax, NS. My first point of contact was very pleasant as the sales associate was very friendly and helpful. She originally quoted my studio apartment at 765$. I paid the 200$ deposit and booked the move for 1 week later.

My movers were supposed to arrive at 5pm on a Saturday. At 7:30pm, they still had not arrived, I tried calling and emailing the office with no answer and no contact information given for the movers. They finally called me with a No Caller ID number at 8pm to tell me they would be another hour.. At 9pm they still hadn't arrived and I still had no way of contacting. They finally arrived at 10pm on a Saturday night, delaying my departure for Nova Scotia by 5 hours.

Two weeks had gone by and I hadn't heard from the movers. I emailed the office looking for an estimated arrival date and they told me I had to pay before they would load my belongings onto the truck. Fine, would have been nice to be contacted for payment.... They call me to sort or payment details and tell me I owe them 1590$, DOUBLE my original quote. They tried to tell me I had an extra 700lbs on the truck even though I signed a contract for how much was actually on the truck. They refused to load my belongings onto the truck until I payed this amount.

My first response was, explain to me where you got this info. They explained, leaving out my 200$ deposit.. I told them and she says "Oh right okay your new total is 1390$. Red Flag - she didn't even have time to review before she changed the number lower. We went back and forth for weeks, I ended up paying 1125$, because I was tired of arguing and wanted my stuff home. The finances associate was rude, unhelpful and ignorant.

Finally my belongings arrived at my house. They refused to bring my stuff to my garage unless I paid another 150$. I refused after all I had been through. They left my stuff at the bottom of my driveway in the pouring rain.

AWFUL SERVICES, HUGE SCAM, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $1125

Official company response

As with all moving company's, O Canada Movers has many moves scheduled in a day, sometimes for reason out of the movers control a move may go longer than expected. Our movers always try their best to contact the clients to inform them if they will be arriving late. The customer stated she was calling the office and emailing after hours, which would cause her calls and emails to go unanswered, as all the representatives have gone home. When our representatives are calling after hours from their personal lines, the will call restricted. Unfortunately I do not know where the client has come up with some of the charges she stated in her comments. In review of the customers charges, I see she received her $200 booking deposit credit to her cost as well as a $50 discount she was offered at the time of booking, along with and along with an additional $100 discount for the movers arriving late, to bring her to her total cost of $1125. O Canada Movers payment policy is listed clearly for the clients to read when they receive their booking confirmation.

Local move from Kingston, ON to Mississauga, ON

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! BEWARE

Please do not use this company.

O Canada Movers quoted a price of 675 dollars to move some articles of furniture from a small two-bedroom apartment from Kingston to Mississauga. I was told (via email which I still possess) that the cost included a free mattress cover and a TV pack. Upon arrival, it was suggested to me that for a fee I could scale my items. I choose not to because I had already been told that the cost of the move was $ 675.00. The movers loaded my stuff and said that my stuff weighed 3500 pounds. I hardly had any furniture. The only heavy item was my exercise bike. It took the movers 1hr to load my goods. It was to my surprise that the movers told me that the free mattress cover and free tv pack were not in the contract. Therefore, I was told that I had to pay for both.

I contacted Amanda (the sales lady) who promised me the free items and she said: "yes I did promise the free mattress cover and free TV pack and I will rectify this with the driver." I called her back after one hour to find out what the status was and she did not answer the phone. I received a call from someone claiming to be the head of accounting informing me that I now owed the company 1,790 dollars, not including my 200 dollar deposit. I told her I was promised by Amanda the free mattress cover and free Tv pack. She said it's not in the contract. There is nothing I can do. She said take that up with Amanda. I emailed Amanda again regarding my free mattress cover and Tv pack. I was told the following: "So I had put a sticky note saying free mattress cover but I think it fell off the contract so that's why the movers didn't get it for free. It was my fault and I apologize for that. I am sorry. I wish I could do more. Unfortunately, nothing can be done now."

I called back the lady at accounts. Not to mention her rudeness and lack of professionalism continued to argue with me and said it is not the contract and there was nothing she can do. She said, this is your mistake for opting out of the scaling fee and now you have tied yourself to a new contract.

You would think a company would care about their reputation and validate their words. I asked the lady at accounting three times to speak to someone who had greater authority and she refused to give me the number.

To make matters worse: I arrived from Kingston to Mississauga at approximately 3:30 pm thinking the movers were behind me. I sat there and waited for 4 hours for the moving truck to arrive at my destination. I received an email at 6:00 pm from the head of accounting saying dispatch has been trying to contact you-the truck broke down. Expect your delivery from 8-10 pm.

I never received one call. My items were delivered at 11:00 pm. I will be reporting O Canada Movers to the appropriate authories.

Wow stay away, run away don’t trust these guys.

Quoted us 2300 dollars for our move over the phone. We explained in detail on all the furniture we had to move plus a shed. They were even going to waive the stair fee. Wow what a deal. No it was to good to be true. First of all the guy was rude to my wife since I wasn’t there for the first 10 mins telling her he was the boss and that they would not honor the quote and it would cost us 6 to 10 thousand dollars. So I had to explain to these guys that they were on my property and go get off of it. Stay away from these guys. I’m saying this without cursing but it’s hard. This Amanda woman can’t do her job. Doesn’t know how to quote and makes all kinds of empty promises that movers won’t commit to. They think once they are there you will give in. Backfired on them. Yes I lost my 200 bucks deposit but I’m sure it cost them a lot more than that to come to my house with 3 guys. So please check the reviews online don’t make the same mistake I made.

Just don't, they're running a half scam.

TL/DR: Use anyone else.

This company seems fine when you talk to their front line. Their phone service is very misleading as it doesn't reflect the rest of their service.

I was quoted 900$ from pictures I sent (due to COVID) and it ended being double. The pictures contained WAY more stuff than I actually ended up moving. So basically they're awful at estimating moving costs.

My booked time went from between 8-9 to 11-2 under 24hrs before the move.

The movers showed up 4hrs late.

Movers didn't set up a ramp and "hand bombed" my belongings haphazardly instead of using an easily usable ramp. They did awful at wrapping and prepping for the move as I was told they would do.

They kicked just about every thing despite my telling them to be careful as there's expensive equipment in there (recording studio equipment). Boxes were packed In the truck sideways and upside down despite being marked fragile with arrows pointing up. When I told them again to be careful I was told to " just claim it" (I doubt that would be easy).

Once my stuff was all in the truck, THAT is when they told me it was going to be double what my quote was. Now, due to them being 4hrs late, by the time the truck was packed I couldn't contact the office, essentially holding my belongings hostage. No one's even answered my emails yet or returned my phone calls.

When I was driving back (Keswick to Ottawa) I got a call from their office regarding the weight of the the items. The office did not know the movers were 4hrs late (how does a company not know when their employees are 4hrs late!?!) And they gave me a measly 100$ off (6%).

When they got to my address in the morning the movers had incredibly shitty attitudes (at least the one that spoke english, the one that didn't was as friendly as one can be without verbal communication). They wanted me to pay before they unloaded my stuff to which I declined as I really didn't trust them at this point.

He then started to argue with me aggressively that he wouldn't unload till he got paid and that he'd call the police. I went and got the cash, counted it in front of him to show that I had it. He then refused to unload till he got paid half to which I said I'll pay half when it's half unloaded. Then he said he'd get the other half when the truck is unloaded. At half, he got half the money. Then when the truck was 95% unloaded, he kept the boxes with the most expensive stuff (stuff I told him to be extra careful with) in the truck till I paid. He was wildly aggressive about it. I stood my ground and got them to unload the rest. At which point he wanted 40$ more than what he told me when he got me to count the cash.

I've worked many customer service jobs in my day, been a customer in many places and this has gotta be one of the worst experiences I've ever had (and I have a Google review where they had us sit in a restaurant an hour for our meal because they forgot to buy pasta lol).

I would see everything at a loss before hiring these scammers ever again. I cant imagine the things they get away with dealing with more vulnerable people.

Low price then hold goods at ransom

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will give you very attractive price and then triple it upon loading your goods. I was even offered an incentive as being a Frontline worker. My invoice went from $900 to $3000! Then on a Sunday they threatened to hold my goods at $1000 if I wasn't able to find the extra $2000 in a hour through etransfer. With my bank limit at $1000 for transfers, they then started charging $200 per hour for this wait time whilst I called my bank to authorize. I asked to speak with a manager and was told it's Sunday, no one will speak to you ! I am still waiting on my invoice . They don't accept credit card payments either only cash at that point with no receipt to use for tax purposes. STAY FAR FROM THEM

Don’t recommend

Was given a quote of $437.50 to move a few boxes and about 5 pieces of furniture. When we got to the storage unit they wanted another $1560 (after putting $200 down) Refused. They returned everything and left it on my driveway. Do not recommend

Horrible

Do not use them. They have so many hidden fees, yell at you when you ask a question about the invoice ,won’t give you an answer. Threaten you to hold your stuff, charge you for storage when you ask questions about the invoice. The movers were great! Office /Accounting staff absolutely unprofessional, horrible worst customer experience I have ever encountered. DO NOT USE THEM.

Total Disaster

We so deeply regret having chosen "O CANADA MOVERS" who made our move a total disaster! The final amount you end up paying will literally be WAY BEYOND the amount you signed up for! A certain "Amanda" will set you up and disappear once you pay your initial deposit, while an absolute rude "Melissa" will literally bark at you and hang up on you, if you request for an invoice. Thereon, you will be blackmailed into paying the amount they command via messages, as they will not even bother to pick any of your calls. Please NEVER EVER opt for them.
